Are dryer sheets bad on your HE dryer?

from my experience, what dryer sheets do is create a film on your lint trap mesh, eventually becoming so thick that heat won't pass through properly. this can actually cause a fire in your dryer. once every two weeks, take out your lint trap, rinse the mesh well in hot water, let dry completely and put it back.
