I've got a hamster at home. I was wondering how do you apply terramycin on her eye?

i took her to the vet today and they gave me a medicine called terramycin to put on her eyes. so i came home and tried to put it on her. It got all messy and now she has a wet spot in the middle of her eyes ...the furry part. is this normal? if not, how do you put it on a hamster? Plz help!!!!!
